I haven’t written anything since January? Geeze Louise, what a slacker I am. Just need to make this a habit. What, 21 days makes a habit? Surely I can make habits easier than break them…A beach trip for the grand parents is coming up next week. I’ll blog and post pictures of that. Yep, That’s what I’ll do! Stay tuned.

Things I do know (God willing.) in 2009.

I will be 44 in February. Aubrey Grayce will be 5 in March, Eric will be 40 (tee hee) in April and Christian will be 11 in May. Christian will start 6th grade and Aubrey Grayce, Kindergarten. EyeSpeak will strengthen in numbers, structure and services in 2009. This will be my 10th year teaching at Arkansas State University and living in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Things I think I know in 2009.

I will be fit and fabulous this year. I will make a conscious effort to eat better and attend fitness bootcamp like a good girl. I will work harder and therefore be more successful in my creative works, financial stability and riding ability. I will be a better mother, wife, daughter, sister, colleague, professor, christian and friend.

Things I hope to Know in 2009.

I will actually make some decent dough on my equine imagery in 2009. I will score between a 65-70% on a dressage test this year. I will become heavily involved in magazine publication of some sort this year. Printed or online…equine or human…how about all of the above? I will be in a strong and stable financial situation that will allow me to make plans to remodel our home, as well as continue to finance horses, cheerleaders and braces.

These are my ‘09 resolutions and aspirations and I can’t wait to get started.

There is this TAG game on facebook, where you are to list 16 things about you that others may not know, goals, dreams, aspirations, etc. and send it to 16 people so that you can find out more about each other. I got really caught up in the listings, in that I could have gone much further. View it here:

I’m thinking that this might be a great way to begin blog entries during the slow times when there isn’t much interesting happening in my life to document.

All of the 16 facts that I wrote about initially were just things about me. I did not mention any goals or dreams or wishes or wants, so I’ll start now with an aspiration.

For a few years now, I’ve wanted to start up a magazine. An equestrian lifestyle magazine. I have most of the key elements in place; a printer, a publishing company that can produce it with the world’s finest photographers, and designers. However, I’m missing an editor (although I have one in mind). Writers. And most of all money. The editorial industry ain’t what it used to be and magazines are struggling with advertisers, but I really believe that I could pull it off with top notch articles, photography and quality paper and printing, it would stand out above the rest. A show piece almost. A coffee table magazine like Architectural Digest or National Geographic. Instead of articles on horse care, I’d have articles on how to braid ponies and pigtails; menus for horse show moms and top riders in their homes, doing something other than riding. It would not be breed or discipline specific. It would be very broad in its categories. Celebrities, show barns, interior design, fashion, food, worthy causes, etc. Anything “horse related”. It would be for non-horsey people. The ones that buy the horse calendars, girls who hang pullout posters on their walls and those who like to have magazines sitting out on their coffee tables. And although “horse care” might not be an article, organic horse suppliments might be an idea. It would begin as a quarterly publication at first. I even have a title, a masthead and cover designed already.

An ezine would be fine too, but my heart is really into the tactile quality of a tangible printed piece of art that you can feel (the quality) and smell (the ink). However, if we can get there through an ezine, count me in. I’d do it in the happen-stance that the printed product would be next.

So, there you go. One of my aspirations. I think it could happen, I really do. Its one of those things that I believe will happen one day, when the time is right. Similar to the one where I believed one day we’d run our own ad agency. I had the exact details thought out many years before, so I’m pretty optimistic with this one too. We shall see. Indeed, we shall see.

Okay. This entry happens to be about the stupid thing my kid did last night. Keep in mind that I think my kids are super smart, so when they do something really dumb, I think it should be shared. My son loves to play games on his computer like most his age. While playing last night, he spilled a little bit of water on his desk and it ran down onto the CPU and he panicked. Now, most know my frowning upon drinking near computers, however, I  wasn’t as upset about this since he was understanding the ramifications of his mistake, acted quickly and knew how close he came to loosing his computer.

At bedtime, I caught him pouring out a cup of water into the middle of his floor. I asked him why he thought to do that and he said he was mad at the cup of water for spilling on his computer. Not being able to wrap my mind around his way of thinking, I grounded him from his favorite computer game for today.

“Stupid” is a word we discourage our kids to say in our house. However, in this case, I could not find a better one to use.

I can’t believe I’ve started a blog. Just one more digital diversion, as if I needed more. Who else to write about me than, well…me! I’m my biggest fan, so I’ll warn anyone who cares to reads my ramblings, this is all about meeeeeee!

Okay, so it’s also about my darn near perfect life.

Which includes my two sweet, beautiful children who are constant entertainment and center of my universe; my amazingly supportive husband who gives me anything I ask for (well, except that D3x); my dear friends that I’ve loved most of my life; my artistic colleagues who push me to do my best; my insanely crazy family who should all be on happy pills with me; and my students who have never ceased to inspire me.

Welcome to my blog.
